Grandpa Rushlows Funerals

Today was the day of Grandpa Rushlows Funeral. The day turned out very well. Bishop Salsbury (Nikki and my bishop) Conducted the meeting and did a wonderful job. With none of Nikki's side of the family being members of the church it was a nervous time leading up to it. We suggested to Nikki's mom to use LDS clurgy because they work for free. and she totally agreed. Bishop began by reading a few stories writting by nikki's mom and aunt about their father. He shared his testimony of eternal families and of Jesus Christ. The spirit was very strong and all who were there felt it. Many people made comments on how wonderful the service was. It really was a wonderful meeting and tribute to Robert Rushlow.

Here is a picture of the Head stone on the wall. This is the wall.

This was carved in to the casket

Robert A. Rushlow

Yesterday I recieved a call from Nikki's mom telling me that we should come as fast as we could to see Grandpa because he was not doing very well. So I rushed out the door while calling Nikki to tell her i was going to pick her up from work and why. When I told Nikki she took it hard but went back into work to see if she could leave early. The Lord was with her. When she walked back into work the first person she saw was her Aunt Peggy (on her dads side) who works there also. Peggy Helped Nikki to get out the Door faster and also gave her a shoulder to cry on for a little while. Bob passed away at 4:10 yesterday afternoon. He looked very peaceful and relaxed. Nikki's mom is a very strong amazing woman. She and Nikki help the hospice nurse clean up the body for pick up. They were both very strong and amazing.
We Love you Grandpa Rushlow and will miss you.
Here he is at our wedding.

My Last Name! Peterson!

I put this together today. I hope everyone enjoys it. It starts with pictures of my Great great great grandpa and grandma and works its way down the generations to the neices and nephews. I could have done it longer and made it more detailed but i think this kinda gets the same idea/point across. This is just through the Peterson side of the family. I will try and make some others but i wanted to get this one posted first of all. PLEASE remember to stop the music at the bottom. Love you everybody!

Wow! its been a while!

We are alive! Things have just been really crazy-go-nuts! Nikki is working full time as a CNA at a nursing home for children called Totally Kids, and i have been working and going to school full time. I came on here and realized that we went through most of september and all of october and not once did we update so i wanted to give a quick little update of what we have been doing lately.
Nikki is a teacher of the 11-12 year old girls at church and is doing a wonderful job. One day a few months ago nikki's mom asked how her class was going and nikki's answer lead into a long talk about the kingdoms of glory and baptisms for the dead. To my suprise nikki's mom said, "We are going to have to give you my families book of geneology so that you can take care of our family." We did get that book and are now preparing them to go to the temple. There were 42 names in that book. This has both of us very excited. Not only are we excited about nikki's family history but with mine as well.
With the passing of Grandpa Peterson i have started talking alot with his youngest sister, LaVon. She has shared many fun stories and has been a giant help in helping me get to know my grandpa and his family. Today when i got home from church there was a Big yellow envelope sitting on the desk in my appartment. It was from LaVon. Inside was a number of biographies written by my great-grandpa James Edward Peterson, his wife Evelyn Brunson Peterson. As well as a biography of the lives of James Christian Peterson and his wife. and also of Peder H. Peterson and his wife (james c. peterson's father and mother). Tonight nikki and i went over to Mom and Dads house and read some of the stories and histories that were shared. I am going to try and get copies made for each of the siblings. as well as another treat that i have not yet received yet. But will share it when i get it.

Let me just say in closing. Peterson family, we have a very amazing family line. Very toughand hard working. it gives us alot to live up to !

Glen Helen Fire!

There has been alot of talk on the news about the Oak Glen/ Yuciapa Fires. Just wanted to give an update from us since we live in Yuciapa. First off, the fires are to far away from us that we have no reason to worry. However we can smell the smoke and we can see the flames. Many people have been asked to leave, and they are all staying at the Yuciapa Fitness center. This morning Nikki and I took a drive to the regional park which is right next to the fitness center. What we saw was very uplifting!
The Firemen are staying at the regional park. All the people who are worried about there homes are standing outside the entrance cheering on the fireman as they come and go! Here is a shoot of just a few of the people!

As we stood there, about 4 of these kept flying over head picking up water from the park and dumping it on the fire.

This is the view of the smoke from the regional park. The fire is 45% contained at this point.

And there was a special guest!

So that is what we have seen so far with the fire. We will let you know as more develops!

They Call me CondorMan!

After we left the Zoo we went the the Griffith Park Observatory. Neither of us have ever been here before so we thought it would be fun. This place was Full of People though so we didn't get to see to much. But it was still fun!

Don't ask me what we are doing...

Oh yeah. Go Lakers!

We finished the day at the Universal city walk. It was fun to see. we also got to see a stand up comedy show with Jeff Dye, and Jon Lovetz. So all in all it was a very fun day!

Fun things This Summer!

So this summer has been really fun! We have had many play dates with the kids at the pool, and on saturdays I have been playing in a basketball league with a bunch of friends of mine. It is really fun to have family so close. And I am excited that I can still run up and down a basketball court! We played today and we won by three points. I am sorry ahead of time for the blury pictures of the basketball games.

The Kids were so much fun!
The kid gaurding me (#21) is a kid named Issac who knew well growing up. He was really funny to play against. The Last picture of the "big three" is of my friend Mike G, Me, and Big Jon (who i played with in high school.)
